When are you open?

The Teaching Center is open the second and last Saturday of every month except December, January, and February. We are there from approximately 8AM to 3PM.

Where are you located?

The NEB Teaching Center is at the Brentwood Recreation Department; 190 Route 125 in Brentwood NH. Our specific address 24 Smith Rd, Bentwood, NH 03833.

How much does it cost to come to an Open Forge?

You have to be a member ($42/annually), and then it’s just $20 for the whole day, including steel, coal, tools, and instruction.

How do I sign up?

What do I have to bring to an Open Forge?

Bring closed-toe shoes, cotton clothing, safety glasses, and hearing protection. We have everything else you need right here.

Who can be a member?

Anyone! Any age, any where! You can join today.

Do you sell castings?

NEB offers Cast Iron swage blocks, firepots, and anvil cones for sale – members get these items at cost. For non-members, each item is an additional $30.

  • 70lb Swage Block – Member price is $260.
  • Anvil Cone – Member price is $95.
  • The Fire Pot with Clinker Breaker – Member price $335.
  • The Tuyere – This is fabricated, not cast. The price for members is $90.
  • Anvil Block & Hold-Down – Member price is $225.

If you’re attending an open forge, meet or hammer in at Morrell Metalsmiths, the Brentwood Teaching Center, or Ball and Chain Forge in Portland Maine, arrangements can be made to pick up at these locations. Bob Menard does ship out of his location in Maine. Contact him for more info:
